This is a Gabriola Island blog

It’s about life on Gabriola Island, BC. Here you’ll find Gabriola-related details, and anything I think would interest my friends and neighbours on the island.

(What’s a blog? Here’s an explanation.)

What you’ll find here

As you’ll see on the home page, new articles are posted regularly; take a look around and see if it’s your kind of thing. I blog about news that affects Gabriola; I blog about island history; I blog about interesting things I find on Gabriola (mushrooms, petroglyphs, mysterious objects in the forest); I post photos; I may post the odd rant. If you like the site, stop by regularly for new content, or subscribe to the site in your RSS news-reader.

You might find something of interest in the Gabriola Links section of the site.

What you won’t find here

Advertising, advertorials, and assorted annoyances. More on that here.

This is a non-commercial blog. I’m not writing in order to promote a business or sell advertising or to get my name out there. I’m not trying to promote myself at all, actually. That’s one reason I’ve chosen to keep my name off the site, at least for now. [See also: privacy.] But lots of readers have already guessed who I am, and perhaps you will, too. Do say hello if you spot me at the beach or on the trail.

About the photos

Unless otherwise specified, the photos you’ll find on Gabriolan.ca are ones I’ve taken. I’m often happy to share a few Gabriola images with people who ask first. As you might expect, I’m not pleased to have folks steal images without asking. But you’d never do that, would you? Of course not.

About comments

Readers can post comments on the site; there’s a link to do that at the end of each blog entry. Here’s what you might want to know about comments on Gabriolan.ca

Who’s behind this site?

Um, I am. I’m the one who blogs under the username Gabriolan at the moment. If you figure out what my name is in real life, I ask that you respect my privacy and keep that information off the web. (Please take a look at the privacy page while you’re here.)

There are guest bloggers who write for this site, too, and I hope there will be still more of them soon. Read about the guest bloggers if you’d like to learn more about them.

And so

We’ll see what develops, and who stops by. I invite you to subscribe to the Gabriola.ca RSS feed, to comment on anything that interests you, and to drop me a note if you feel like doing that.
