Now I’d like to put my seven year apprenticeship in learning the ins and outs of the Islands Trust to work. So I’m throwing my hat into the ring to run for the Trust in the November local elections, and am hoping Gabriolans and other Area B residents will help me win that election.
We are losing two long-serving trustees who, for little pay, have done stellar work on behalf of all of us to keep Gabriola’s rural character alive.
I can’t fill their shoes. (I’ve got my own gumboots!) But I aspire to work as hard as Gisele and share her diligence and her sceptical smile, and I will try to be as approachable as Sheila Malcolmson and as effective within the Trust Council.
But first I’m going to miss next month’s Local Trust Committee meeting – the first I will have missed in almost seven years of RARs, and STVRs, of LTCs, VRCs, APCs, TACs, and AACs, of TUPs, OCPs and, of course, LUBs – and take a little holiday.
However those who want to know my opinion on pretty much everything (or what those acronyms stand for), can find it in The Shingle website archives.
We’d be hard-pressed to find a more well-informed candidate!
