Brickyard Beast today
The Brickyard Beast road race has just started, so expect to see runners if you’re along the route. It starts at Tait and Ferne, then goes down Ferne, along South Road, right on Lochinvar, and then on North Road to Gabriola Elementary School.
Are any of you running this thing? (Mats and Julia?) If so, maybe you’ll stop by and tell us how it went.
The race slogan seems to be slay the beast. Let’s hope the runners slay the beast then, instead of the other way around. :-)

The race ended at the Commons — last-minute change — and the first runner arrived in something like 37 minutes. Most Impressive!

Mats had to go back to Norway and those runners who know him miss him a lot. We know he would of been in the top 10 if he was able to compete. The GRUNT’s (Gabriola Runners Under Ninety Team) will make sure he gets all the up dates and photos and a TShirt.
As for me, I was the running medic for the Beast. My job was to run back and forth and help anyone in distress. I was the very last runner to cross the finish line, it was my job to run everyone in. It was a great run, love every step of the way.
