From the Nanaimo Daily News: RDN recommends taxi rides for those who can’t access HandyDart.

To help Gabriola Islanders who have no access to the regional HandyDart system Regional District of Nanaimo staff recommend the Taxi Saver program be extended.

The lack of HandyDart service on Gabriola has become problematic for seniors and residents who face health challenges to get to much-needed health appointments, said Daniel Pearce, Nanaimo Regional Transit manager of transit and planning.

The Taxi Saver program is used throughout the province for those who would qualify to use HandyDart but there is no service available, Pearce said. [continue]
