Attention, knitters and crocheters of Gabriola!
Does this sound like a fun project, or what?
Yarn Bomb Yukon Collective is going to yarn bomb the DC-3 plane owned by the Yukon Transportation Museum. This interactive art project is created in partnership with the Yukon Transportation Museum and the Yukon Arts Centre Public Art Gallery. The idea for the project came from Casey McLaughlin, Director and Curator for the Yukon Transportation Museum and the project was taken on by the Yarn Bomb Yukon Collective.
The purpose of this interactive public art project is to transform a historic aircraft into a large scale public art project, to foster an appreciation for fibre arts, and to teach the lifelong skill knitting and crocheting techniques to adults and children. Once the project is complete, blankets will be donated to local charities and shelters. [continue]
So, will you knit a blanket? Or does this inspire you to organize a community yarnbombing of some giant artifact on Gabriola for a good cause? Any ideas? I’m pretty sure they would not allow yarnbombing the ferry…
