Come push the boundaries this Sunday!
Laurie MacBride sent this invitation along for us:
Gabriolans have long been known for pushing the boundaries in the creative arts – and our island photographers are no exception!
No matter what sort of images appeal most to you… landscapes, nature, portraits, abstracts, closeups, experimental or something else entirely… you should find plenty to appreciate at Pushing Boundaries, the Gabriola Photography Club’s Spring Show & Sale, which is happening this Sunday.
The show is a chance to see what many of our island’s photographers have been up to lately, not to mention finding enough inspiration to get your own creative juices flowing.
If past shows are any indication, prepare to have your socks knocked off! About 100 beautiful framed and mounted photos will be on display, along with gorgeous greeting cards and matted images (all available for purchase if you’re interested).
We’ll also have a lively slide presentation showcasing more photos by a dozen Club members (to run throughout the afternoon). And door prizes too! And it’s free admission! What could be more fun?
The show is also a chance to talk to others about photography (including most of the 15 to 20 photographers whose work will be on display), and to learn more about the Photography Club and how you can get involved.
The show takes place at the Rollo Centre (685 North Rd), from 12 noon to 4:00 pm on Sunday, June 3rd.
The Gabriola Photography Club meets twice a month (except for July and August) and welcomes new members. Whether you’re a beginner, experienced amateur or semi-professional, there’s always something to learn through the Club, which is a great forum for sharing photos, inspiration and techniques. Meetings often feature guest presentations from other photographers (both local and off-Island), and sometimes a workshop or field trip.
If you can’t make the Show but would like to learn more about the Club, please contact Dirk Huysman (facilitator) at 250-247-9430.
