New nanotechnology converts body heat into power
From sciencedaily.com: Recharge Your Cell Phone With a Touch? New Nanotechnology Converts Body Heat Into Power.
Developed by researchers in the Center for Nanotechnology and Molecular Materials at Wake Forest University, Power Felt is composed of tiny carbon nanotubes locked up in flexible plastic fibers and made to feel like fabric. The technology uses temperature differences — room temperature versus body temperature, for instance — to create a charge. [continue]
I’m not so interested in charging cell phones or digital music players — mostly I want those things to shut up and go away. But we do have those pesky power outages on Gabriola, and if technology can help us all stay toasty warm… hmmm. Could be interesting.
