You’ve probably seen Gabriola’s flocks of geese, and you know that Gabriola seems to have huge numbers of deer. A Globe and Mail article talks about what other BC communities are doing/want to do about these creatures. (Link to article removed, as it is no longer available on the Globe and Mail website.) Interesting read.

Of course, on Gabriola we have that woman who takes bags of bread down to Whalebone to feed the birds (!) and dozens and dozens of people who feed the deer. I can’t imagine that there’d be any point in working towards a reduction in the geese or deer populations on Gabriola while that’s going on.
