Wasp-sucking machine
It seems to be wasp season on Gabriola now, so I got out our glass wasp trap the other day and set it up. Marvelously effective, though we did have only thirty or so wasps to murder.
Our wasp trap is boring compared to Matthias Wandel’s wasp sucking machine. That thing’s amazing!

He’s recreated the technique professionals use to move bees that are where they shouldn’t be—with a vacuum that sucks them into sealed hives for transfer. I saw an entire online slideshow on a removal of a bee-nest from the side of a building once… I’m not sure where, or I’d pass the URL along.
