Today’s Gabriola fish
This is the dog’s most recent catch – a flat fish at Whalebone. Is it a flounder? It’s about 8 inches long, and all grey and boring on the other side.

Nick, you’ll have to come to the beach with us. You can bring the salt and vinegar, and be the official fish-taster. :-)

Starry flounder.
I was confused at first by the colour, but then I realized that your photo is of the white underside of the fish – the thing I thought was an eye (there are always 2 on the top surface of the flatfish, 0 underneath) was actually a bit of vegetation.
