Gabriola mouse
One of the things about having a dog is that you always know Where the Dead Things Are. On Gabriola, they’re everywhere.
Todays’ dead thing is this little mouse, left in our yard by some neighbour’s cat. Probably the same annoying cat who leaves calling cards in the flower bed.

I also find neighbour’s cats wandering outside attacking anything that moves annoying. I’m a cat lover, but have never allowed my cats to roam around outside, and they’ve been the better for it. Indoor cats are not only healthier, but happier cats. When I found a bird that was obviously killed by a cat beside the bird bath, I was forced to remove the bird bath because the neighbours just don’t get it.

I never see the cat, so I have no idea whose it is or where it lives. However, it may very well meet its end here — if our dog ever finds a cat in our yard, I think it will be game over for the cat.

As much as i love cats, i don’t appreciate when i find little presents as well as dead things that they leave in my garden. I often wonder how cat owners would like it if we allowed our dogs to wander in their garden and leave presents for them to get all over their hands when digging…
