Gabriola turkeys in the news
Remember I wrote about the turkey in our yard, and then about the Gabriola turkeys wandering along the road? Well, somehow this turkey thing we’ve got happening here on on Gabriola has become big news.
First I heard from two newspapers, explaining that they were going to do an article about our turkeys. One wanted to chat, and both wanted permission to reprint the photo I posted of the flock of turkeys. (Um, no thanks and no thanks.) Then the CBC came along.
The article that was apparently the first of the lot is now being reprinted by newspapers across Canada. We’ve seen articles about Gabriola’s turkeys in the Vancouver Sun, the Victoria Times Colonist….
I expect we’ll soon have international coverage of our local turkey flock. Crazy.
I’m stunned to hear that turkeys on our island have caused this much of a flap.
