Sharp stuff in the Gabriola woods

Remember a while back I showed you the machete in the Gabriola woods? Well, these clippers and this saw have recently appeared just next to the machete. Go figure.
(Thanks to my ever-observant hiking friend for telling me about this newest addition to the collection of weird stuff in the Gabriola woods.)

How do you see all this stuff? When I walk through the woods, I see only the lovely trees, flowers and birds etc. They say we should slow down and smell the roses; but perhaps I need to slow down and scan the forest :) I’ll be chatting with my dogs about slowing the pace of our walks.

How do I see all that stuff? These factors contribute:
I spend a crazy amount of time in the woods.
I have great distance eyesight, and I’m observant. I notice little changes.
My dog sometimes wants to stop and sniff for a few minutes, so I stop too. That gives me time to look around.
I walk all over Gabriola, so I’m on lots of different trails.
Sometimes friends find these things and tell me about them.
If somebody steps off the trail to hang something in a tree, say, that leaves a scent trail for a day or two. My dog smells those tracks, and points them out to me.
If people are living in the woods or picking salal in the woods, my dog points that out, too. She’s great at telling me where people are, and where people have been recently.
If you send me a note and tell me where you like to walk with your dogs, I might be able to suggest a few things to look for as you hike.
