Guerrilla knitter on the loose
I hiked in Gabriola’s 707 Acre Wood today, and came across this: a few trees wearing, um, sweaters? Really. I am not making this up. Somebody has been knitting for trees, and now several trees are sporting fanciful knitted stripes.
I don’t know many knitters, and don’t knit myself. But a friend who does knit came for dinner tonight. She says what we have here is a case of guerrilla knitting.
So there you go, Gabriola: there’s a guerrilla knitter in our midst.

Also known as “yarnbbombing”: there is, of course, a blog dedicated to it.

I think this is to be encouraged! Gabriolans! Flash those needles and make sure this is not purls before swine…

Some of the stair posts at the Whalebone beach are also wearing sweaters. Or maybe they’re tube socks.

qmackie – Thanks for the links! That’s fascinating. Glad to know Gabriola is right in there with the DIY installation artwork thing.
Stetler – Well! I’ll have to go down to Whalebone and take a look at those stair posts, then. Thanks for letting us know about those.
