Gabriola signs that aren’t
What do you think this un-sign is saying? Is it:
- There’s something I wanted to tell you, but now I can’t remember what it was!
- Look! I am framing nature for you! or
- Something else altogether?
There are a lot of these signs that aren’t around Gabriola. This one is on Lochinvar Lane, just opposite the exit from Folklife Village. There’s another one (smaller and without bench) over by the Mid-Island Co-op (gas station) on North Road. And then there are dozens of still-smaller empty signs all around Gabriola.
I’m not a practical joker. (Well, not on a public scale, anyway.) But if I were, I’d be planning to put some signs in these fine frames on April 1st.

This is saying” I was going to be a big sign but some big wig at the Islands Trust” said “No you can’t have a sign bigger then TWO INCHES BY THREE INCHES AND NO LIGHTS BIGGER THAN A ONE WATT CHRISTMAS LIGHT BULB.” ha ha.
