Gabriola’s kelp
When I’m out at Berry Point, I wonder what’s going on under the waves, and whether the newly-planted kelp will thrive there. Remember hearing about the Help the Kelp project a while back? Today I visited Dr. Michael Mehta’s website and noticed a link to this Youtube video of the Gabriola kelp re-planting:
Also of interest: video of the pre-planting survey dive.
Let’s hope it all works.

Thanks for the plug. There are so many dedicated volunteers involved in the Help the Kelp Project. I am just one of many. That said, I can’t wait to see how our “babies” will grow this spring and summer

I’m tempted to learn to scuba dive so that I can go down and see for myself!

Sure… I can teach you to dive or you can learn from Wiley at Access Diving.
