oyster mushrooms, growing in Gabriola forestHere’s something that is driving me slightly crazy just now. See these? I think they’re oyster mushrooms. If only I had the chance, I’d pick some, check them out to see exactly what they are, and maybe even eat some. I really really want to get at these mushrooms. But alas: they’re out of reach. I’m reminded of Winnie the Pooh, who used a balloon to float up to get hunnny. If I had a magical balloon, I would use it to float up and get oyster mushrooms.

These ‘shrooms are in the middle of the Gabriola woods, so it’s not like I can carry a ladder in there. Even if I were to take a ladder, this old tree might not support that extra weight. A telescoping pole might help, but who has one of those? I don’t.
