On donating to the Gabriola Commons
Some months ago a volunteer from the Gabriola Commons phoned me. Would I consider signing up to support the Commons? Would I give them a cheque to authorize bank account deductions each month?
Well, no, I wouldn’t. I give to charities, but I don’t write cheques anymore, and that monthly deduction thing creeps me out. I like to make donations online.
I’ve since discovered a great thing: I can donate to the Gabriola Commons through CanadaHelps.org.
I’m tickled about this.

I enjoy reading your blog regularly, though I’m not an Island resident. Living on Gabriola has been a long-held dream, one that unfortunately I’m unable to realize. As far as I’ve been able to determine, there are no subsidized housing units there, and affordable rentals generally are difficult to find. Sigh.

Welcome, Chrystal! I’m always surprised to find people from elsewhere who stumble into this blog.
