Seals at Whalebone
If you stand on the beach at Whalebone at low tide, looking out to sea, you might notice a bit of rock sticking out of the water over on your left. Can’t see too much detail from the beach, can you?
But peer at it a bit and you may see shapes on top of that rock. They’re seals.
This is when it’s great to have a digital camera with a good zoom feature. I took a few snapshots, and now I can really see who hangs out on that rock! Here they are:

Of course, I wish I’d had a monopod with me, but still. Not too bad for hasty shots with a tiny camera. The serious photographer on the beach was carrying a camera about the size of our espresso machine with her. She didn’t bother taking photos of the seals, because she’d left her massive telephoto lens at home. My camera weighs 145 grams and fits in my pocket. Heh.
