Cliff Cornell charged with desertion
Arkansas Online has an update on former Gabriolan Cliff Cornell: Soldier from Arkansas charged with desertion.
Fort Stewart commanders have filed a desertion charge against a soldier accused of fleeing to Canada four years ago to avoid the war in Iraq, a spokesman for the Georgia Army post said Thursday.
Spc. Cliff Cornell, 29, will now face an investigation to determine whether his case should be handled administratively or sent to a court-martial, said Maj. Lee Peters, a Fort Stewart spokesman.

Thank you for keeping us to date with Cliff’s story. Really happy to see no jail time yet! Look forward to seeing Cliff back on Gabriola as per his wishes. All the best Cliff!

Any word about what’s happening to Cliff Cornell now? Haven’t heard anything for a week. Wish there were something I could do to support that young man. It takes a lot to stand for your principles. Especially when a lot of folks in Mountain Home would think you were a bit peculiar for the stand you take.

Gladys, the latest news about Cliff seems to be in this CanWest article: (link to article removed, as the Calgary Herald has removed that article from their website. Sorry about that.)
