Trail markers in Gabriola’s 707 Acre Woods
A couple of years ago there were red triangular trail markers in the 707 Acre Woods. Hikers who began at the end of Ricki Street could follow a short loop (40 minutes, maybe?) to the end of Jeanette, following the markers. It was all very handy for those new to the 707.
But then the markers vanished. If I had to guess who removed them, I might wonder about the Gabriola hiker who opined that the markers were "hurting the poor trees" and "creating visual pollution" and should be taken down. But who knows? There seem to be a lot of people who remove trail markings and signs on Gabriola.
Anyway. Last Sunday (Jan 25th – see Gabriola events calendar entry) GALTT members apparently went out and put up new trail markers in the 707. So today, full of insatiable curiousity like Elephant’s Child, I went off to the 707 to take a look.
These little red diamonds seem to be the new markers. Think they’ll last long?
